Description:
✦ Wayfinding Typefaces
This book is a visual and analytical exploration of the typefaces used in wayfinding systems — from highway signage to airport terminals. It delves into how typography functions in public spaces where clarity, legibility, and speed of recognition are critical.
The book examines key typefaces like Highway Gothic, Transport, and Clearview, while also exploring the principles behind their design — such as stroke width, letter spacing, contrast, and visibility in motion. I combined research, visual analysis, and real-world examples to build a resource that’s informative yet approachable.
Designed with clean grids and intentional white space, the book reflects the very logic it explores — type that serves, guides, and informs. This project allowed me to combine my love for editorial design and typography, while also questioning how design decisions impact everyday navigation in the world around us.
