✦ Festival Postcards — Gion Matsuri & Rio Carnival
These illustrated postcards were designed as part of a project celebrating global festivals through the lens of visual storytelling. I chose to represent Gion Matsuri from Japan and the Rio Carnival from Brazil — two vibrant, culturally rich events with completely different moods and aesthetics.
The cards were designed to feel like personal letters — something you could actually send — while capturing the essence of each festival through color, rhythm, and detail. From the elegance of Kyoto’s traditional floats to the electric energy of Rio’s parades, each design was a way to explore cultural expression and celebration through print.
